WNBA Award Winner Selected
The WNBA has selected Amy King, poet, professor of Creative Writing at SUNY Nassau Community College and Executive Board Member of VIDA Women in Literary Arts.

The WNBA Award is presented every second year to a “living American woman who derives part or all of her income from books and allied arts, and who has done meritorious work in the world of books beyond the duties or responsibilities of her profession or occupation.”
The award will be presented at a special event June 6, 2015, as part of WNBA’s annual meeting, to be held this year in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Since 1983, the Women’s National Book Association (WNBA) has awarded one of the most prestigious honors in children’s bookselling. Along with WNBA, Penguin Young Readers Group co-sponsors the Pannell Award which recognizes bookstores that enhance their communities by bringing exceptional creativity to foster a love of reading. Given annually at BookExpo America’s Children’s Book and Author Breakfast, the winning stores each receive a check for $1,000 and a piece of original art from a children’s book illustrator.
Every year a committee of publishing professionals selects two Pannell Award winners—one general bookstore and one children’s specialty bookstore. Store nominations come from customers, sales reps, store personnel, or anyone who has been impressed with the work of a particular independent bookstore.

Women’s National Book Association Announces the 2015 Eastman Grant Winner
The Women’s National Book Association is pleased to announce the 2015 WNBA Eastman Grant Winner:
The District of Columbia Library Association (DCLA)
Given annually, the WNBA Eastman Grant is a $500 cash grant given to a library association in a state where there is a WNBA chapter. The funds are given to support librarian professional development or training offered by an official library association. “The Eastman Grant has been the WNBA’s way of supporting librarians in their efforts to educate the public and spread the word about the love of learning and reading,” says WNBA President Carin Siegfried. “Specifically, it supports continuing education which we feel strongly about as what it means to be a librarian is a constantly evolving definition as technology and access changes every day.”
